This is a very good product and used to be our favorite, as it spotted and dealt with several trojan's that other systems had missed when we first ran it. It also has a very good monitor feature to stop worms getting on your PC in the first place, while you are on line. It also monitors your registry and folders used by outlook and ICQ, to make sure a trojan doesn't sneak in using one of these programs. A very easy system to install and use. There is a free trial download available to try before you buy.
What does Anti-Trojan Shield do?
Anti-Trojan Shield is a sophisticated
trojan defeat package and complete description would take enormous amount
of text. But let us sum up here what major tools Anti-Trojan Shield implements
to protect your computer.
Monitor
Monitor is the element of ATS package that constantly monitors the virus-free
health of your PC. Namely:
- it checks all the files you run to make sure malicious code is not executed
- monitors registry to eliminate appearance of dangerous entries
- monitors folders which are used by Outlook and ICQ, not letting trojans sneak in through this software
- runs scheduled scan of the folders set up in monitor settings
It is multi-purpose user friendly interface to
powerful ATS anti-trojan engine. It is recommended you perform full disk
scan from within the manager at least once a week. Manager allows you
to scan the computer in many different ways with a press of one button:
processes scan. It scans the memory of your PC for trojan-like programs,
already running in memory.
registry scan. A thorough scan of your system registry looks for malicious
entries in the system. The entries may be starting trojans or re-installing
already removed trojan after you reboot. ATS makes sure the deleted trojan
is never started again!
file scan. There are several levels of scan ATS implements. For athorough
explanation of the scans please look at Online Help. ATS can even scan
packed files (.zip, .rar, .arj, etc), making sure trojan does not hide
in there.
Update
Update allows you to update virus/worm/trojan definition databases without
leaving the program. ATS manager files can also be updated in a convenient
and quick way. Trojan definitons are released at least weekly, but mostly
more often.

ATS Monitor stays residentially in memory of your PC constantly checking
it for trojans. Monitor places its icon in a system tray. Once placed
it will be loaded each time you turn your computer on until you do not
choose otherwise.
The screen offers wide variety of settings that could be changed according to your preferences and needs. The number of reboots after which Anti-Trojan Shield starts to scan directories you have selected could be specified here as well.
It is very easy to stay updated with Anti-Trojan Shield's online update utility. Just choose to update your copy of Anti-Trojan Shield software whenever you want. You can choose whether to download a new trojan definitions or the ".exe" file itself or both.
